Kumu will visit throuout anywhere in Japan.
Kumu can visit your Hālau to hold Hālau WS if there is minimum of 10 students (excluding teacher) , and visit all over the country from Hokkaido to Okinawa at no additional charge.

- If you have 2hrs WS x 2 slots in the morning and afternoon, you need to have a minimum of 10 students for each lesson. ( It does not matter if the members are the same or replaced each time, but the minimum number of 10 students per each lesson is mandatory.)
- ❌ 10 students total for 2 slots ( 5 in the morning, 5 in the afternoon) is not acceptable. If you still want to hold WS this way, you will need to pay 10 minimum fees for each lessons.
What is included in the Fee.
●Transportation fee （nationwide）
※If transportation to remote islands or venue is totally invonvenient location and additional transportation is required, extra charges may be incurred.
●Japanese-English interpretation fee (when necessary)
What is NOT included in the Fee（Hālau needs to pay）
●Prepare venue(studio) – rental fee for the rental studio
●WIFI environment（WIFI or Internet Connection at the studio, or prepare pocket WIFI）
●Any other necessary equipment or devices according to Hālau request.
●If you wish to the interpreter to accompny with Kumu at the venue（Interpreterʻs transportation/ interpreter fee）
●Prepare accommodation and its payment when Kumu cannot make a day trip.

●Translation of MELE
The lyrics translation is not just a translate the words, but to deepen the meaning behind the words that leads to a deeper understanding of the background of the song, the land, and learn about the composer as well.
It takes at least 30 minutes to give a lyrics translation lecture. Kumu can deliver the translation video in advance for students to learn beforehand, or explain translation on the workshop day.
●Multiple slots in one day
If the number of students is larger or it is difficult to book a large studio, it is possible to arrange the 2 hours/ 2.5 hours lesson as on slot and hold it the same workshop twice in a day.
The minimum fee is required for each slot. It is necessary to meet the minimum number of people in each slot, or payfor the minimum fee is required.
① Pay Deposit at the time of application
Application fee for one person for 2 hours will be applied as deposit when you order Hālau WS. This deposit will be part of the total payment amount.
When your payment is completed, we will secure Kumuʻs schedule for your workshop.
② Send details from request form
Once you have completed the deposit payment, please send us your WS request as detail as possible, the level of your students, mele they have learned in the past, what type of class do you want, etc.. If you have specific Mele in mind, please send us the title of the Mele.
If the details are not decided upon your check-out, you can send details about one month to 1.5 months before the date of Workshop day.
③Details will be decided until the day
We will follow up to decide details of WS schedule, contents, and make a final arrangement to be fixed about 1 week before the date of the workshop.
Regarding Mele selection, Kumu will give you ideas and propose several mele when necessary.
When sending a request form, please send as detailed information as possible. What type of class do you want Kumu to hold – ʻAuana WS, Ka Papa Kūkākūkā, Craft Workshop,etc… then, request specific song, or topic, etc.
Especially when it is the first WS with Kumu, and Kumu has never meet the students before, it is difficult to make an appropriate choices for the students. We appreciate you to come up with detailed plan first and tell us your students level, tendency, what songs do they like/dislike,etc..
You can leave it to Kumu to decide Mele when your Hālau has at least one WS in the past and Kumu knows you and your students well.
④On the day of Workshop
Please make sure to secure about 30 min preparation time for Kumu to set up camera, laptop connect to internet and Zoom, etc..
When the projector is being used for translation, allow 30minutes to an hour for setting up.
We will confirm the final total number of participants, and raise an invoice base on the numbers. Payment due is one month after you receive an invoice.
We accept all major payment method except Gift card voucher and Coupons.
Q：Can I request a song and/or can I leave it to Kumu?
If is possible to leave it to Kumu to decide a mele, or you can request as well.
When requesting a song, please know not all songs available. Kumu will reply to you if it is possible or not, and when not possible, Kumu will propose similar or alternative songs.
When you ask Kumu to decide a song, Kumu needs to know the level of the students, songs they learnt in the past, tendency of their favorite song style,etc.. so Kumu can propose the most appropriate mele for your students.
Q：Is it okay to select the Mele with instrument?
It is possible, but you will need to preapre instruments on your end. We do not prepare instruments. Also we require minimum 2.5 hours per slot.
Q：Can the same song be held twice by different students in a day?
Yes, it is possible. It can be held in the same day, or different day. Either case, the minimum fee of 10 students is required for each slot.
Q：If the same song is held multiple times, and same teacher will be attending, do I still need to pay for both slot for teacher?
Same teacher with same song multiple times with different students each time will need only one-time fee for teacher is required.
Q：Can you teach ʻOli and/or Kahiko to my students?
No. Oli and Kahiko can only be taught to students who are actively taking Kumuʻs hula class. Kumu do not teach ʻOli and Kahiko at Hālau WS or any other public general groups.
Q：Is it OK to have a Keiki Group ?
Yes. Keiki Group, Wahine Group, Kāne group, all is ok to arrange. All you need to know is to fulfill the minimum number of 10 in each slot, or pay the minimum number of 10. However we do not accept KEIKI only workshop as Hālau WS. Keiki group can be part of Hālau WS. You still need to have adults WS (minimum 10) and then add Keiki workshop before or after adult WS.
Q：Can I ask Kumu to hold Craft WS or Culture lecture WS ?
Absolutely yes. You can choose or mix with ʻAuana WS, Ka Papa Kūkākūkā, Craft Workshop. All categories are the same price and minimum number requirement is the same as well. There is additional matrial fee for craft workshop.
